Discover this exciting Globant Awards – Women that Build Edition

September 22, 2021

The world is slowly recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and people are adapting to being heavily reliant on digital solutions. Accelerated automation and digitalization, remote work, and virtual education became the new normal. There were other notable changes as well, and not all of them were positive. For women, the unemployment rate increased by 12% in 2020, increasing an already concerning gender gap.

Technology is playing a key role in promoting gender equality. As the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be felt, the time it will take to close the global gender gap has increased by a generation, from 99.5 years to 135.6 years. At Globant, we use technology to solve problems that impact both the planet and its people, encouraging women to pursue a career in technology and become leaders that inspire their community.

The role of the Women that Build Awards in an ever changing world

Leaning on our entrepreneurial spirit and inclusive culture, we’re developing spaces around the world to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity in the IT industry.

We’re dedicated to doing our part to make that happen by committing to getting to parity in our leadership roles in 2025 and by inspiring girls, women, and non-binary people to enter into and excel in tech careers.

As part of our effort to achieve this goal, we created the Globant Awards – Women that Build Edition, a global event to recognize women that lead and help create change. It also represents a strong community of women around the world whose stories deserve to be heard, made visible and recognized by their inspiring power.

This second edition of the Women that Build Awards focuses on promoting and reinforcing the importance of diversity and inclusion to respond to and recover from the COVID-19 crisis. With the accelerated pace of digital transformation, we want to bring together more opportunities to transform employment for women. After an incredible first edition, we invite you to once again support women who are an inspiration for their company and communities.

What is new in Women that Build Awards?

We designed the Globant Awards – Women that Build Edition to highlight the inspiring work of women from a variety of fields and in different stages of their professional journey. From women who are just starting their careers in technology to female executives who have been leaving their footprint on the tech field for decades, the awards recognize women in the following categories:

Rising Star: Talented women who are starting a career in the tech industry or using technology to generate a positive impact with less than 10 years of experience.

Digital Leader: Innovative women who are leaders in their organizations and who have been impacting change in the IT industry for at least 10 years.

Inspiring executive: Women in C-level roles, VPs, Directors, or Board Members who are inspiring leaders and are leaving their footprint on the tech field.

In this year’s edition, we are introducing a new category: Tech Entrepreneur, for disruptive women who either founded or are part of the board of a technology-based or impact-based startup that are at least 3 years old.

This year, people will also be able to self nominate, nominate others, and vote for public profiles on the website. Nominations are open until October 20th.

“The more representation and diversity there is within organizations, the more we can inspire women to train and work in the technology sector, and thus achieve a narrower gender gap within the industry. At Globant, we believe that diversity is key to business, so the Women that Build Awards are a call to action to build a more diverse and just future.”
