Live from the 
The world continues to face challenges with equality, diversity, and inclusion. Whether it is systemic racism in the US, or the profound inequality that punishes vulnerable populations in Latin America and India, we all need to reflect on how we can help. That’s why, here at Globant, we created a special response to support actions that help those communities that need it most.
On this occasion, we asked Globers and clients to join together in their efforts and be a part of “All4Equality”, our campaign to promote dignity and equality. More than 300 Globers around the world volunteered to work additional time, with the approval and commitment of our clients. The revenue we generated with that extra day’s work was then matched by Globant, and then donated. This was similar to previous campaigns that we have organized, such as #All4Venezuela or #AllAgainstCOVID. We are proud to say that, thanks to this joint effort, we raised almost $120,000 to support several local communities.
Supporting projects to improve people’s access to opportunities
Within the framework of our Be Kind initiative, we continue to work to improve people’s access to IT related education, support people in vulnerable/underprivileged situations, and foster the inclusion of people with disabilities.
The following are some of the actions we have taken around the world.
USA
Minorities continue to face challenges in the United States, particularly with regards to accessing quality and affordable education, and employment opportunities. In an attempt to help mitigate this inequality, we will be working with the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering providing scholarships to young black men and women in computer science. We will mentor students through tech talks, and will look to employ NACME scholars seeking job opportunities at Globant.
Colombia
One of the great challenges that Colombian society faces today relates to the consequences of armed conflicts that have affected men, women, and children across the country for decades. We will be working alongside the Fundación Plan on a project that aims to provide empowerment opportunities and IT skills to girls and young women between the ages of 13 to 24 from Bogotá, Bolívar, Cauca, Chocó, Sucre, and Valle del Cauca, regions which have suffered historical violence. This is part of the Fundación Plan’s campaign “No Más Niñas Invisibles”, which translates as “no more invisible girls”.
Mexico
In Mexico City, we will enhance our partnership with HolaCode, an organization focused on training forced migrants (returnees, deportees, and refugees). These are individuals who have experienced a lack of opportunities as a consequence of their displacement. HolaCode aims to provide training to become a software developer, and we will be sponsoring the education of migrant women on fullstack Javascript. Job placement is a key part of the project and we are working with HolaCode to create opportunities that allow Holacoders to have the chance to start a career at Globant.
India
In India, we contributed to Samarthanam Trust for Disabled, an organization that helps people with disabilities, and from vulnerable situations, lead an independent life and acquire the skills to develop themselves professionally. We allocated funds from the All4Equality campaign to the purchase and distribution of electronic equipment for the Skilling and Higher Education Project in Pune. This program reaches around 100 people with disabilities every year. We expect that this equipment will reach 300 students during the next three years.
Argentina
In Argentina, we partnered with Caritas Argentina to improve access to education for underprivileged communities in 18 provinces around the country. The project aims to promote and guarantee access to education for children, young people, and adults by focusing on youth leadership and community association. This project will impact 26 children and teenagers in elementary and middle schools, and a further 38 students in high schools in the cities of La Plata, Mar del Plata, and Córdoba.
Peru
In Peru, we will support Care Perú and their efforts to provide education on entrepreneurial and finance skills to women from underprivileged communities. The objective is for these women to have access to better economic opportunities and gain a key role within their family’s financial planning.
Chile
In Chile, we will be working with Techo Chile, an organization that helps poor families improve and overcome their situations by means of several programs. These include building emergency housing, building infrastructure for education, and providing training on many different trades from hairdressing to gastronomy. Globant’s donation will be used to fund the construction of emergency housing for a family in need.
Uruguay
ÁNIMA in Uruguay is an educational institution with emphasis on ICT, and works with young people in vulnerable contexts. Our support is aimed at helping these young people so they can finish their secondary and high school education focusing on ICT topics, as well as fostering labor opportunities for the future.
