London’s Metropolitan Police Digital Transformation Project Shortlisted in Cannes Lions’ Innovation Award

July 2, 2018

Our work for the Metropolitan (Met) Police of London has been shortlisted in the Cannes Lions’ Innovation award honoring groundbreaking innovation, technology and problem-solving. This particular project has demonstrated the transformative power of creating an open dialogue between the public and law enforcement with technology.
The Innovation Lions recognize different technological solutions such as products, models, tools, and platforms as well as another kind of ad tech and creative campaigns that use new technology.  This year, 21 campaigns were selected from around the world and each of them was assessed live by a jury at Cannes Lions.
For us, it was an amazing feat in innovation because we were able to transform the oldest police in the world from a traditional organization into a digital-centric workforce. Our team of experts created a framework connecting the local police with the public in a two-way communication process that contributed to increase trust and confidence while maintaining a sense of visibility of the police.
The project of digital transformation started in 2015. This was a time in which the Met Police was facing  a reduction in the budget, an increasing demand of local presence, and a growing expectation for online police availability, The team at Globant focused on agile methodology throughout the entire development process and defined a strategic roadmap to discover and address the Metropolitan Police’s key pain points with an integrated service platform. Our services contributed to the transformation of the Met Police into the world’s largest police force.  The new service platform enabled 100,000 online reports of crime, reduced time spent triaging contacts by 65% hence, saving 7,200 police officers’ hours across road-traffic incidents alone. In addition, as a consequence of the use of the new platform, the Met Police received 90% of traffic allegations online, resolved 14,500 inquiries through Twitter, all with 88% service satisfaction.
