Together, we gathered healthcare leaders for an exclusive luncheon titled “Innovation and AI in the Health Sector,” spotlighting AI’s transformative potential in healthcare.

Professor Tony Young OBE, the National Clinical Lead for Innovation at NHS England, delivered a powerful keynote address on how cutting-edge technology can significantly enhance healthcare outcomes. He stated: “We need to work with digital and tech industries to understand how to best deploy. So I think it’s education and training. I think it’s funding, its support for changing pathways, and I think it’s working in partnership with industry.”
With his work at the NHS focusing on accelerating medical innovation, Professor Young emphasized the critical role of collaboration between technology providers and healthcare organizations to bring about meaningful advancements in patient care.
He added, “We’ve been supporting NHS England in looking at things like how we can predict non-attendance as an outpatient appointment. 12 million appointments each year in the National Health Service are not attended, and we’re now using artificial intelligence technology to predict two weeks in advance who’s not going to attend. So we can fill that slot and treat patients more quickly, improving their outcome.”

Andrew explained: “For an organization like HCA, one our biggest challenges is the speed of change, the speed of innovation, picking the winners in that, but also ensuring that we are surrounding that with the right clinical governance structures and understanding by the patient, to make sure that we can continue to live a patient safety and the best patient outcomes. But technology’s absolutely a game changer in healthcare at the moment.”
