Meet Juan Roperto, Tech Manager – Globant Madrid
Tells a fun fact about you
– It’s cheaper to buy me a suit than take me out for dinner.
When I was a kid my mom was worried because I atec too much so she took me to the doctor.
– My mom: my baby eats too much and I am worried. What’s wrong with him?
– Doctor: he is just hungry.
– What five things do you love about  working at Globant?

  1. Cultural diversity: Globant gave me the opportunity to work with people from Colombia, Uruguay, Mexico, India and Spain. I have learned from each of their cultures.
  2. Travel: our delivery centers give you the opportunity to travel and even relocate to a different country. I relocated to  Spain 🙂
  3. Collaboration: it’s at Globant’s core. Everyone, no matter the business unit, seniority or location, is willing to help you.
  4. Learning: the  wide range of industries and clients give you the opportunity to learn whatever you want.
  5. Sites: every site has something that stands out from the rest.

– Which three books would you  recommend to a Glober?
– I am not much of a reader. I love movies though. My three picks would  be: The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Rock’n Rolla.
Did you have moments or situations in your professional career that made you think you couldn’t make it through, but actually made you stronger? Which were those?
My current project’s go live: every Glober in the account was with a tremendous amount of pressure. Sleepless nights, tight schedules and a rollercoaster of emotions.  One day we are going to make it; the next day it seemed we were not, and the next one, we were going to make it again!! It was difficult, but it taught us endurance and how to handle  pressure.
– If you could say only one phrase to people starting their professional path in tech, what would you say?
Be curious about business and technology, always!
– What three good habits every Tech Manager should have?

  1. Delegate tasks to the team but still know what’s going on
  2. Support your team.
  3. Train your successor from day one.

– If you had to explain your job to a little kid, what would you say?
I teach computers what to do.
– In an alternate universe, my job would be… Why ?
Professional BBQ master: I love making asados.
– One passport stamp I’m dying to get is…
– India 🙂
