With the Game Testing Edition, we bet on the inclusive growth of the IT industry in Uruguay

With over 400 professionals from the gaming industry and more than 40 AAA games in the market, we are launching the Game Testing edition, within the Code Your Future program in Uruguay, to train and employ young people who want to develop their career in the IT industry.

Over a period of 6 months, the 500 young people selected will work as video game testers for Globant and will have the opportunity to learn about game engineering, game design, programming, and the fundamentals of game testing and software testing, among other topics.

Through this program, we seek to position Uruguay as a talent and innovation hub for Game Testing practices for all of Latin America. “With this project, we want to create more than 300 new jobs and turn this opportunity into a training program and first job for more than 500 young people,” said Bernardo Manzella, Country Manager at Globant Uruguay. “The goal is to train and employ young people who want to develop their career in the IT industry”.

The project arises from the high demand that currently exists in the gaming industry at Globant. With the expertise of our Gaming Studio, this program is an excellent opportunity for these young people to apply explicit work experience with world-class clients. In addition, with the Game Testing Edition, we seek to define a new paradigm regarding the quality, design and testing of video games. “By the end of the program, these young people will have learned how to test video games, but they will also have learned a lot about the industry, which is great for them, for Globant, and for the industry at large,” said Gonzalo Ordeix, Technical Director of Gaming.

In order to bridge the gap between the various technical training plans and actual integration to the labor market, we are trying to increase the number of professionals in the industry and offer a fertile framework to develop inclusion strategies. Given that we are committed to reducing the gender gap in the industry, the initiative will strongly focus on providing training and employment opportunities for women. On the other hand, there is no age limit to participate, given that the program is aimed at both young people who are starting out their careers and adults who want to reinvent theirs towards the IT industry.

Registration is free of charge and the initiative has the support of recognized organizations such as Uruguay XXI, the Ministry of Labor, INEFOP, UTU – Bachillerato Tecnológico, Universidad ORT, Ánima, Jóvenes a programar, Programa bIT and Smart Talent.
